Hyannis Man Who Raped Child Gets 10 Years In Prison

Barnstable police arrested Renato Campos last year after he provided minors with alcohol and raped a 13-year-old.

BARNSTABLE, MA — A man from Hyannis was recently sentenced to 10 years in prison after raping a child in 2017. Renato Campos, 31, last month was found guilty of aggravated rape and furnishing alcohol to a minor after a four-day trial in Barnstable Superior Court.

"The charges stem from an incident in January of 2017, where Campos brought several children to his home and served them alcohol," Cape & Islands District Attorney Michael O’Keefe said in a statement. "He then had the thirteen year old victim perform oral sex on him. This was later reported to the police, who executed a search warrant at his residence and arrested him."

After his release from prison, Campos will be required to register as a sex offender.
