New Barnstable Police Chief Selected
Barnstable Deputy police Chief Matthew Sonnabend was selected to lead the department after the retirement of Paul MacDonald.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Barnstable has a new police chief. Matthew Sonnabend, currently the department's deputy chief, was selected to lead the department Friday. He will replace Paul MacDonald, who recently retired. Sonnabend's appointment is subject to Town Council approval.
Town Manager Mark Ells announced the decision.
"In making this decision Mr. Ells also took into consideration the results of a citizen survey, community stakeholder panel and an individual interview with the Town Manager," town officials said in a statement.
