Rare Bald Eagle Sighting On Cape Cod: Video
A bald eagle was recently spotted on Cape Cod in Yarmouth at Lewis Pond.

YARMOUTH, MA — A bald eagle recently made a rare appearance on Cape Cod. According to the Yarmouth Division of Natural Resources, the eagle was spotted last week at Lewis Pond. Denise Cooper shot a video and several photos (below) of the eagle — one shot appears to show the full-grown bird over a dead seagull.
There are about 100 bald eagles in the wild in Massachusetts, according to Mass Audobon.
"Experts have since confirmed nests at Quabbin Reservoir, along the Connecticut and Merrimack Rivers, and on lakes in Plymouth County," Mass Audobon says. "In 2012, eagles nested at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in Easthampton and Northampton, the first confirmed eagle nest at a Mass Audubon wildlife sanctuary. Massachusetts-born eagles have also been documented as nesting in Connecticut and New York, adding to the recovery of the species in the northeast."
