5 Things: Looking Ahead to Patriots' Weekend
Weekend events, two rescheduled BHS sporting events, a look at the efficacy of citations for possession of marijuana and more in Bedford on April 12.

1. Get Out This Weekend:Β It's Patriots' Day weekend, and there's a whole lot going on in and around Bedford.Β We've compiled weekend events happening around town in our Weekend Planner. The Lexington Symphony Orchestra will perform Saturday night, Tom Yates and the Working Man's Band will put on a show at the Colonian Inn Friday night and the Lexington Historical Society will put on a night of colonial singing and dancing Sunday. 2. BHS Softball Rescheduled:Β TheΒ Bedford High SchoolΒ varsity and JV softball games scheduled for Friday at 4 p.m. at BHS have been rescheduled to Thursday, April 18,Β according to the school's website.
3. Paying Up on Pot Citations:Β UnderΒ Mass General Law chapter 94c, section 32L, possession of one ounce of marijuana is decriminalized and punishable only as a civil offense, a $100 fine and a drug awareness if you're a minor. One criticism of the law is that there is no incentive (such as stiffer fines for second penalties) for offenders to follow through and pay the citation.Β

5. A Rainy Friday: The forecast is looking bleak for Friday, with a 100 percent chance of rain predicted with a high near 41, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts an 80 percent chance of rain Friday night with a low of 36.Β
