5 Things: The Bedford Community Pulls Together in Response to a Tragedy

Bedford's response to the Marathon explosions, more on the V.A.P.D. Chief charged in connection to the "Cannibal Cop" case, some public meetings and more in town on April 17.

1. Bedford Responds to a Tragedy: The Bedford community rallied around those affected by the Boston Marathon explosions. The National Guard out of Hanscom Air Force Base sent more than 1000 Guardsmen to assist law enforcement in Boston. The Bedford Police Department sent several officers into town to assist law enforcement. The Bedford business community showed their support in various ways. 2. V.A. Chief Linked to "Cannibal Cop":Β . Meltz's employment status with the V.A. remains unclear, as officials could not comment on the matter. Meltz was arrested Sunday and is being held without bail after an initial court appearance on Monday.

3. Today in Public Meetings: The only public meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 17, according to the town website is the Bedford Housing Partnership at 7:30 p.m. The Board of Assesors meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.Β
