Bedford Attorney Pleads Guilty to Larceny and Embezzlement Charges

Accused of stealing more than $800,000 from three clients, disbarred Bedford attorney Maureen Pomeroy pleaded guilty to charges of larceny and embezzlement at Middlesex Superior Court on March 5, according to a report by the Lowell Sun.
Pomeroy, 46, plead guilty to two counts of larceny of over $250 from an elderly client, larceny of over $250 and embezzlement by a fidcuciary.Β

An investigation was opened by the state Attorney General's Office in 2010 after a complaint was made by a former client of Pomeroy's, according to the Sun's report.Β
Investigators allege Pomeroy stole more than $810,000 from an 85-year-old client who retained her services to help him retrieve funds fromΒ online bank accounts that had been set up for him by relatives, according to the Sun.

Pomeroy then used the funds to pay off loans, pay credit card balances and to buy cars for herself and a boyfriend, according to the Sun.Β
Pomeroy, who specialized in real estate and estate planning, resigned from her practice and was disbarred in 2010, the Sun reports. Β
A sentencing hearing has been set for 3 p.m. on Monday, March 11.
