Bedford Company Among Largest Importers in Massachusetts

While the Commonwealth's trade ports received 1.5 million tons of overseas imports worth $4 billion from 2011-2012, Massachusetts exports more than it imports, according to a recent report by the Boston Business Journal. 

During the same time frame, Massachusetts-based companies exported 3.7 million tons of goods valued at $9.3 billion. 

Bedford-based Instrumentation Laboratory made the BBJ list of the largest importers in Massachusetts, with a reported 560 tons of imports worth $12.2 million in 2012. 

Instrumentation Labs brings "medical professionals the most valuable and complete solutions for their testing needs," according to the companies website. 

The primary country which Instrumentation Labs imports to is Italy, according to the BBJ report, with their primary import commodities being medical, surgical, dental and vetrinary products.
