Bedford Responds to Boston Marathon Explosions

A day that marks the start of the American Revolution here in Massachusetts was marred by two explosions that devastated the area near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

Two explosions seconds apart rocked the area surrounding the finish line of the Boston Marathon shortly before 3 p.m. on April 15,Β reportedly killing two and injuring dozens more.

A third explosion reportedly occurred more than an hour later at the JFK Library in Boston, although it remains unclear whether this incident was related to the two earlier explosions.Β

Several Bedford residents were running in the marathon, but due to the explosions, runners who were still on the route when the explosions occurred were stopped short of the finish line.

Of the 10 runners from Bedford, only three have finish times posted by the Boston Athletic Association:

Bedford High School Principal Henry Turner was at the race, a block away from the explosion, and sent out word through his twitter account this afternoon to let people know he was safe:Β 

Prayers and thoughts go out to the victims of Marathon. My wife and I were a block away from the explosion, I hope that's closest 4 Bedford
