Gordon Looking to Help Constituents Identify Unclaimed Property

One in 10 Massachusetts residents has unclaimed property, according to the State Treasurer's office.

State Representative and Bedford resident Ken Gordon is working with State Treasurer Steven Grossman to assist his constituents in identifying any unclaimed property being held by the Treasurer's Unclaimed Property Division, according to a press release from Gordon.Β 

Property includingΒ forgotten savings and checking accounts, uncashed checks, insurance policy proceeds, stocks, dividends, and contents of safe deposit boxes are turned over to the Treasury after three years of inactivity, according to the release.

One in 10 Massachusetts residents has unclaimed property over which he or she has custody, according to the Treasurer's office.

Find if you have any property to claim by visiting the website Commonwealth has launched,Β contacting the Unclaimed Property Division at 1-888-344-MASS(6277) or (617) 367-0400 or emailing unclaimedproperty@tre.state.ma.us.

"The faster you file a claim, the sooner you will be reunited with your money," Gordon said in the release.Β
