This Week in Bedford: A Look Back at Town Meeting, The Super Guppy Caught on Camera and More

The Super Guppy is used to transport large cargo and last week delivered a heat shield to be on the NASA Orion spacecraft, according to reports from last week from WCVB. 

The shield was flown into Hanscom in order to be transported to Textron Systems in Wilmington, where a protective coating was applied in order to shield astronauts during re-entry

State Rep. and Bedford resident celebrated April Fool's Day with  a spoof blog post announcing his intention to run as a write-in candidate in the upcoming U.S. Senate special election.

Census tracts indicate the “creative class” has the highest share in Bedford, followed by the “service class” and finally a small “working class” share, according to a report by The Atlantic Cities, which uses a map to show how class lines divide within and among Census tracts. Opening night at Bedford's annual Town Meeting saw voters approve several amendments to the town's sign bylaw as well as all but one of the capital projects included in the warrant. The one capital project voted down was funding for the installation of an automated gate system at the town's seasonal storage facility.

Middlesex Community College received a grant from The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center to provide funding for a planning study for expanding the college's biotechnology facilities as well as to review the curriculum of the biotechnology program, with the plan of adding or revising nine courses.
