5 Things: Giving Blood, Retirement Planning, and 'Grease' Tonight

Events in Belmont on Friday, April 5.

1. Got a few pints of blood you can spare? Then head over to All Saints Episcopal Church from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the Belmont Community Blood Drive. You can call to make an appointment at 1-800-RedCross, visiting the web site www.redcrossblood.org ot just walk-in. All donors will receive a pair of New Balance Socks!

2. Come to the Beech Street Center from 1:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. to hear about New Retirement & Social Security Planning Strategies. Know your options and what to plan for in retirement such as:

• The 12 risks of retirement– will you outlive your assets?

• Learn how to avoid probate and guardianship—wills vs. trusts

• Learn how to provide for tax-free income at retirement.

Presented by George Pessotti of the Society for Financial Awareness, this workshop is free and open to all.

3. The second night of GREASE, the hit Broadway show, will take place tonight at 7 p.m. at Belmont High School's auditorium. The performance, directed and produced by Chris Brindley, is being performed by the Performing Arts Company of Belmont High School. Tickets are on sale online at www.ticketstage.com 

4. And over at the Benton Library:  

At 10:30 a.m., Nature and Animal Stories and colorful crafts for three-to-five year olds. Listen, learn and be silly! Parents or caregivers must attend. Registration is not required.  5 – 8 pm

One this first Friday in April, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., the Benton Library will be open late for the community. It's great way to begin the weekend; browse and borrow, look at the latest New York Times best sellers, use our Wi-Fi. The Benton is open one Friday evening every month.

5. Come over to the Belmont High School softball field adjacent to the Viglirolo Skating Rink and across from the Belmont Public Library at 4 p.m. to see the Belmont High School Softball team host Cambridge Rindge and Latin in a non-league game
