5 Things: Author Edie Clark at Books and Bites; Belmont World Film
Events in Belmont on April 8.

1. Belmont World Film's 12th annual International film festival "Found in Translation" continues at Belmont's Studio Cinema with the East Coast Premiere of Beauty (Nosilatiaj. La Belleza) by Daniela Seggiaro. In both Spanish and Wichi – the language of an indigeneous tribe in the north of Argentina. When her prized long hair is unjustly cut on the occasion of the quinceanera of a "criollo" (pure Spaniard born in Latin America) family's daughter, a young Wichi girl, working as the family's maid, loses faith in her cultural ties with the criollo world and defines her destiny. Lotte Buiting, a Harvard doctoral candidate specializing in Latin American literature and film, specifically from Argentina, will present a talk after the film. See the trailer for the movie on this Web page.
2. Special guest speaker author Edie Clark will talk about her book, "The Place He Made," at the Belmont Public Library's monthly book review program Books and Bites in the Assembly Room at 11 a.m.
