5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 25 (Lady Day)
Eating healthy classes at the Benton, spring yard waste pickup begins April 1, music with Rubi at the Library.

1. There are still a few seats left for the free "Healthy Eating for Successful Living" class which will meet on Mondays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Beech Street Center on March 18, 25, April 1, 8, 22 and 29. Have fun, and improve your health at the same time. Learn more about how nutrition and lifestyle changes can promote better health. The class covers healthy choices in each of the food groups, appropriate portion sizes, and how to read labels. Taught by Freda Fishman, sponsored by Springwell’s Healthy Living Programs, funded by Tufts Health Plan Foundation. Please register ahead of time. over the phone is fine at 617-993-2970.
2. Get ready: Spring yard waste collection begins April 1. For those residents with Green recycling bins, yard waste will be collected every other week on your recycling day starting on April 1.
For those residents with Blue recycling bins, your recycling day starting the week of April 8.

Remember yard waste must be placed curbside in 32-gallon trash containers, marked with two "Yard Waste" stickers provided by the town or be placed in 30-gallon brown paper biodegradable bags, which may be purchased locally. Containers may not exceed 50 pounds.
3. Movement and Music with Rubi is a program recommended for children from three to five years old but two year olds are also welcome. It all takes place in the downstairs Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library at 9:30 a.m. for those early risers and 10:30 a.m. for the sleepy heads.

4. Beginner Bridge Game, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Beech Street Center. The cost is $10 per game. Players can walk-in after you sign in at the reception desk. Two hours of bridge for Beginner/Novice bridge players which includes a 15 minute mini-bridge lesson followed by the playing of 10 to 12 bridge hands.
5. Today is Lady Day, the traditional name of the Feast of the Annunciation which marks the visit of the angel Gabriel to Mary, during which he told her that she would be the mother of Jesus Christ.
Also, March 25 was the New Year's Day in the English American colonies including Boston until 1752 when, following the move from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar, January 1 became the start of the year.
And if you have some Swedish blood, you know today is Våffeldagen or Waffle Day when waffles are typically eaten throughout the day.
