5 Things You Need to Know Today: March 6
Talk on the New Economy, Garden Club and hearing tests.

1. Sustainable Belmont and First Church in Belmont Social Action Committee are presenting a talk by Bob Massie, environmental leader, author, Episcopal priest and president of the New Economics Institute at the First Church at 7 p.m. Massie will talk about how the New Economics Institute has been building on more than 30 years of alternative economic thinking and community-based practices to begin building a nation-wide, grassroots movement for a just and sustainable economy.
2. Belmont Garden Club is holding its monthly board meeting from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the downstairs Assembly Room of the Belmont Public Library. The Garden Club pursues a variety of projects to help beautify Belmont and support its residents. For more information, head over to the club's website here.
3. There will be free hearing screenings from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Beech Street Center. Mass Audiology will administer the test, and if needed your hearing aid batteries can be replaced. Make your appointment by calling 617-993-2970 or by stopping by the front desk.

4. She's back! Sing-along with Julie, a sing-along program for children, will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Children's Room of the Belmont Public Library.
5. Duplicate Bridge Club meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Beech Street Center at 266 Beech St. Every Wednesday the club holds American Contact Bridge League-sanctioned games. All are welcome to play. Cost is $5. Phone: 339-223-6484 for more information.
