Belmont Media Center Wins Regional Award for Election Coverage

Congratulations go out to everyone at BMC: staff, members, volunteers and local journalists, and a Belmont High School graduate turned political consultant for winning First Place for election coverage in the 15th Annual Alliance for Community Media-Northeast Region Video Festival.

Competing with more than 200 access TV centers in New England from Manhattan to Bangor, BMC's hyper-local live coverage: Election Belmont 2012 took the top award in the professional category for elections and issues.

Thanks go to Carol Yelverton for anchoring the coverage, and to Paul Roberts (Blogging Belmont), former state rep. Anne Paulsen, Tomi Olson, Belmont Patch, Town Clerk Ellen O'Brien Cushman, and BHS graduate Andrew Feldman, who reported live from Washington, D.C. and gave a near perfect analysis of local and national issues: unscripted.

Thanks to all those behind the cameras and monitors, like volunteers Precious Ngcobo, Julie Land, Jirair Hovsepian, Chris Buckles, and staffers Julie DeStefano, Paul Carey, Jeremy Meserve, EJ Johnson, Rachel Wiederhoeft (on her first day at BMC), Adam Dusenberry, and BMC's general manager Jeff Hansell.

BMC will receive the award at the ACM-NE Region Video Festival Night in April.
