BELMONT, MA — Police in Belmont are investigating a shooting on Olmsted Drive on Monday.

Around 5:20 p.m., police received two 911 calls reporting shots fired in a parking off the roadway. When officers arrived to the area, they located “spent shell casings” and “a magazine,” Chief James MacIsaac of the Belmont Police Department said.

“However, no victims or suspects were located at the scene,” he said.

Police “quickly learned” there were two possible victims with gunshot wounds being treated at local hospitals, he added.

“The preliminary investigation,” MacIsaac said, “indicates that this is not a random act of violence.”

No other information was available at post time and the incident remains under active investigation.
