Belmont Police Log: Car+Pole=No Power in Lexington Street Area

Electricity were cut late Friday in the Waverley neighborhood when a driver happened to hit a light pole.

A single-vehicle accident left homes in and around Lexington and Beech streets in the Waverley neighborhood without power late Friday night, Dec. 27.

The outage occurred when an driver smashed his vehicle into a light pole directly in front of the Belmont Baptist Church, breaking it in half, according to eyewitness, Trey Klein of Lexington St.

"Power went out at my house … about [9:45 p.m.]," Klein e-mailed to Belmont Patch after going out to investigate the problem. Belmont Light crews were at the scene of the accident which Klein described as "a real mess." 

Belmont Police confirmed that the driver was not seriously injured.
