Belmont's Martin Takes Vermont Slalom Title

Leads the under-18 age class in championships held on Pico Mountain.

Killington Mountain School’s Michelle Martin, a junior from Belmont, earned the title of Vermont State Slalom champion, leading the U18-age class in the 2013 Vermont U18/21 Slalom Championship hosted by Pico Mountain this past Sunday, Feb. 10.

Racing on the packed power course on a cold, brisk day, Martin finished the two-run race in 1:14.04.

Heidi Robbins, KMS's class of '07 who is now coaching for Pico, took the race win in 1:12.88.

Killington Mountain School is a fully-approved Vermont independent school whose mission is to inspire students to pursue excellence in academics and athletics in a culture that promotes integrity, leadership, responsibility and respect.

Participants in the KMS alpine racing program train and race in all four disciplines: downhill, slalom, giant slalom, and super-G. Training takes place on a wide variety of terrains, across the seven mountains of Killington, depending on the needs of the groups.
