Belmont Week in Review: Christmas in Belmont, Careless Disposal of Embers, Nomination Papers Ready

A quiet holiday week in Belmont.

It was Christmas in Belmont this week.

The careless disposal of embers from a fireplace caused a Christmas Day blaze that destroyed barrels and toys on Horne Road. It could have been more tragic if the fire had been closer to the home.

Nomination papers are now available from the Town Clerks office for town-wide offices and Town Meeting representatives. They are due back on Feb. 11.

A public Community Path Public Forum concerning the long-talked about pedestrian/bicycle path running through the town from Waltham and Cambridge.

Belmont will begin collecting Christmas trees for disposal on the second and third week in January.

Belmont Girls Basketball lost their game to Stoneham but saw the emergence of a scorer while the Boys' are undefeated, knocking off two ranked teams.
