Belmont Week in Review: Football Head Coach Gone, Jones Not Running For Selectmen, Joey's Park Opens

Belmont High School Football Head Coach Kevin Gildae was dismissed from the team on Thursday, a day before the game with Reading High School. No reason was given for the removal yet it stemmed from personal conflicts with players. Dean Sacca will take over the position for the remainder of the season.
Belmont's State Senator Will Brownsberger won his hometown with 66 percent of the votes in his bid for Congress but didn't win any other community in the race to replace Ed Markey in the 5th US Congressional district, finishing fourth in the special election held Tuesday.
Selectman Ralph Jones made it official: he will not seek re-election to the Board of Selectmen in April. Two days later, Roger Colton announced that he is officially run to replace Jones. Expect more to announce after the new year.
