Boys' Soccer: Marauders To Host First Round Playoff Game Monday

Takes on Dracut "Middies" on Monday, Nov. 4 at 6 p.m. at Harris Field.

For the first time in his career at Belmont High School, Boys' Soccer Head Coach Peter Guellnitz and his team won't be boarding a bus to get to their playoff game Monday, Nov. 4 as the Marauders will host a Division 2 North Sectional playoff game at Harris Field against Dracut High School.

The match between Belmont, ranked 8th in the 17 seed draw, and the "Middies" from Dracut, the 9th seed with a record of 10-7-1, will take place under the lights beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, an hour before the first night of Belmont's Special Town Meeting takes place.

The Marauders, which finished the regular season with a 12-3-3 record, completed their season on a two game winning streak, a 3-2 win over Burlington in a non-conference game on Monday, Oct. 28 and a 1-0 win over Winchester in a Saturday matinee, Oct. 26 as senior Ben Giber hit a low, first-time shot from 15-meters out at 26:26 in the first half.

Dracut High plays in the Merrimack Valley League Large Division with power houses Danvers and North Andover.

If Belmont does win its match with Dracut, they will likely meet undefeated (18-0-0) and first seed North Andover later next week.

FYI: Dracut High Schools'  name "Middles" refers to midshipmen, the students at the US Navel Academy and Naval ROTC, as the town was where U.S. Navy uniforms were once manufactured. The town borders New Hampshire far to the north of Belmont.
