Fit to be Tied: Shuster, Slap Take Belmont School Committee Seats in Low Turnout

Town voters select incumbent and school volunteer to town office.

First-time candidate Elyse Shuster and incumbent Laurie Slap could not be separated as they beat out a very competitive 21-year-old Jamie Kang to fill the two open seats on the Belmont School Committee at Belmont annual Town Election, Tuesday, April 2.

The unofficial results from the town's eight precincts had Slap and Shuster each receiving 1,594 votes or 38.5 percent of the vote. Kang, a Belmont High School graduate and MIT senior, was third with 947 votes.
