Spring Sports Begin With A Belmont Rugger Rout
Belmont Club Rugby dismantles Arlington Catholic Wednesday night.
It's just a week ago, snow covered Belmont High School's Harris Field and Spring was more hope than reality.
But on Wednesday night, March 27, the snow had disappeared and the Spring Sports season got underway as the highly-regarded Club Rugby XV, (the "XV" would be 15 as in 15 players on the field) led by captain Jon Comeau, began their season with a resounding 58-0 shutout of Arlington Catholic.
The six-year-old Belmont Rugby Club is an independently financed and funded club. This season Belmont will for the second year play in top-rung Division 1 in the Massachusetts Youth Rugby Organization with BC High, Bishop Hendricken, Brookline High School, Marshfield High School, St. John's Prep and Xaverian Brothers.
