State Police Nab Belmont Man after High Speed Chase
A Belmont man faces OUI and drug charges following his March 25 arrest in Lexington.
Massachusetts State Police arrested a Belmont man for operating under the influence of drugs last night following a short pursuit on Route 128 in Lexington.
The incident began around 8:25 p.m. on Monday, March 25, when troopers assigned to the Concord Barracks received several reports of a red BMW operating erratically on Rte. 128/95 in Burlington, according to a Massachusetts State Police press release.
Several troopers responded to the area to search for the vehicle, which was reportedly continuously striking the guardrail as it traveled northbound. The vehicle exited the highway and looped back onto Rte. 128/95 south, where a trooper located it in Lexington, according to MSP.

Following a brief pursuit, the BMW finally stopped in the breakdown lane, at which point Charles E. Connelly was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Operating under the influence of drugs
- Possession of a Class A substance
- Possession of a Class E substance
- Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
- Marked lanes violation
- Failure to stop for the police
Connelly was released on bail and arraigned this morning at Concord District Court, the press release said.
