This Weekend in Belmont: Purim Carnival, Square Dancing and Kid's Concert
Events happening this weekend in Belmont.

Belmont Cooperative Nursery School is hosting a fun family concert by Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys on Saturday, March 2 in the social hall of St. Joseph's Parish at 130 Common St. Doors open at 11 a.m. Tickets can be purchased at the door: $5 per person with a maximum cost of $20 per family. Children under 2 are free. In addition to the concert there will be a silent auction, balloon raffle, and pizza, snacks and baked goods for sale. All proceeds from the event will benefit Belmont Co-op's need-based scholarship fund.
Square Dance for Everyone is just that, just plain square dancing: No classes, no costumes, no commitment. Just bring $10 admission at 8 p.m. to Payson Park Church, 365 Belmont St. and get ready to allemande right and do-si-do. Newcomers are welcome, singles or couples. Called by Tony Parkes and music by Amy Cann and friends.
Join in on the fun to celebrate the festive Jewish holiday of Purim at Beth El Temple Center's annual Purim Carnival on Sunday, March 3 from 11:45 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the Center located at 2 Concord Ave.

Families with children 3-12 will delight in carnival games including the always-popular box maze, sponge toss, donut munch, and more, as well as fun crafts including spin art, cupcake decorating, and preschool activities. The cost to attend the carnival is free, tickets may be purchased at the carnival for 35 cents to participate in many of the games and activities. There will be ample prizes for all participants. Food, including traditional Purim Hamantaschen, will be for sale.
