Join the Wellington Elementary School community as everyone enjoys traditional carnival games including Krazy Kans, ring toss, putt and win, Castle bounce, and slide, as well as sand art, balloon animals, hula hoping, face painting, arts and crafts, bake sale, gently-used book sale and more. Food will be available for sale.

Many in the community find the event is a great opportunity to meet other families in town, and have their children be part of a positive first school experience.

Seeds, both planted and stored

The Belmont Food Collaborative – the people behind the award-winning Belmont Farmers Market – wants to help gardeners ready to get their hands back in the soil as it presents a seed double-header this Sunday, March 17, in the Flett Room (across from the Children's Room) at the Belmont Public Library.

The 1 p.m. workshop revolves around how to start seeds for your garden. Steve Tracy from the Collaborative will demonstrate how to plant and provide your seedlings with everything they need until they are ready for your garden.

The 2 p.m. workshop will be on saving and storing open pollinated seeds – including tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, beans and squash – for years of use. Learn where they come from, where to buy them, and how to save, store and reuse them. Organized and taught by Linda Ordway who has been studying and using open pollinated seeds for the last ten years.

All are welcome to attend this free program.
