Digital Gallery: Art from the Chenery

Works by students from Belmont's Chenery Middle School.

More than 13,000 works of art by students in middle and high school from across the state were submitted for judging in thirteen categories in this year's annual Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards.

And 46 Belmont students, many from Belmont's Chenery Middle School, received awards.

Yet regardless of award status, it is a very high honor to have your work entered for judging in this competition, according to Chenery arts teacher Kristen Ripley.

"We would like to share all of the work – award or not – with the community. At the middle school, we work hard to send the message that all artwork has value, even if that means it is not chosen by an award committee. This is why we would like to make a show that recognizes the hard work of all entrants," said Ripley who works with fellow teachers Katharine Kelley, Kathleen Byrnes and Sarah Libertini in the Chenery Art Department.
