5 Things to Start the Day: Aug. 24

Daily guide to events, happenings, and tidbits of Beverly information.

Here are five things to start your day in Beverly:

1. State Senate Candidate Joan Lovely will be chatting live with readers on Beverly Patch on Monday afternoon at 1 p.m. Learn more about the chat .

2. Get a hair cut this weekend, and you could be supporting the Alzheimer's Association. Alfonso's Hair Salon on Rantoul Street will be hosting its third annual Cut-A-Thon from 10 a.m. til 1 p.m., and 100 percent of proceeds benefit the upcoming Alzheimer's Walk for Awareness. The Cut-A-Thon will be $10 hair cuts for men, women and children. The $10.00 hair cut is a wet cut with no styling (meaning no blow drying or styling).
