Beverly Awarded More Than $4 Million In Grant Funding
Recent awards include $400K for Beverly Airport studies and $1 million for the McPherson Teen Center.
BEVERLY, MA — Beverly's recent awarding of a $400,000 grant for Beverly Airport environmental assessments and runway reviews and $1 million for the new McPherson Teen Center campus brings the city's total awards to more than $4 million thus far in 2024.
"Grants are an important way the City obtains additional funding for projects and provides the opportunity to alleviate the strain on the annual budget," Beverly Director of Grants Catherine Barrett said. "We appreciate all the municipal staff whose efforts to secure grants makes a difference."

A $398,300 four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation/Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for completion of an aeronautical environmental assessment, notification and review of runways 16-34 and 9-27 for the Beverly Regional Airport.
A$863.86 MArtap Helping Hand Minigrant from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). This grant funding will be used to purchase GPS lock boxes for the Council on Aging shuttle buses and vans. The addition of lock boxes helps keep passengers and drivers safe by limiting distractions.

A $1,000,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Project Funding (CPF). This funding will be used to construct the new McPherson Teen Center campus and building to most effectively use its space to serve the city’s youth.
A $200,000 Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) Jail Arrest Diversion (JAD) Program Grant to continue funding 2 co-responder clinicians to support the Beverly Police Department’s Community Impact Unit (CIU). This is a regional, collaborative grant that benefits Beverly, Essex, Gloucester, Ipswich, Manchester and Rockport.
A $123,000 Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) grant to continue funding the Essex County Training and Technical Assistance Center (TTAC) - Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) Program at the Beverly Police Department. The Essex County TTAC (Training and Technical Assistance Center) provides trauma response training (Crisis Intervention Training “CIT”) to police officers in the Essex County area of Massachusetts with a goal of improved services in responding to citizens with behavioral health challenges.
A $102,973.14 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) - Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) Program to support the purchase of personal escape devices, including safety rope, descender, hook, rope/bag and carabiner, for each member of the Beverly Fire Department and to provide training.
A $54,100 Municipal Local Cybersecurity Grant through the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) – Office of Grants Research (OGR). This grant funding will be used to implement multi-factor authentication (MFA) and to create a cybersecurity incident response plan (CIRP).
