Beverly Hospital Will Keep Addiction, Mental Health Program
Beth Israel Lahey Health reversed its decision to close the outpatient program that serves 500 patients per year after hearing backlash.

BEVERLY, MA — A mental health and addiction treatment program that serves about 500 patients per year will remain at Beverly Hospital. Last month, Beth Israel Lahey Health said it would continue to offer the partial hospitalization program in Gloucester and Lynn, but reversed that decision this week after hearing backlash from patients. Beth Israel Lahey never notified the Massachusetts Department of Public Health about the plan to close.
The hospital had said the closing would ultimately allow it to expand the program's offerings. "After engaging in meaningful conversation with staff, referring providers and program alumni, we have decided to maintain our three existing program sites in Beverly, Lynn and Gloucester," hospital spokesman Chris Murphy told the Salem News, which first reported this story.
