Beverly Moves Closer To Opening First Cannabis Shop
Mayor Mike Cahill said he will sign an agreement with Fresh Fields LLC to open a recreational cannabis store on Rantoul Street.
BEVERLY, MA — Fresh Fields LLC appears to have emerged as the victor among the seven applicants looking to open a recreational cannabis store in the centrally-located area of Rantoul and Park streets. Mayor Mike Cahill is expected to sign a host agreement with Fresh Fields, which would be the first of four the city will eventually sign.
The agreement gives Fresh Fields an advantage over competitors, as city regulations prohibit recreational cannabis stores from locating within 2,000 feet of each other. Fresh Fields still needs state and other approvals before it can open. According to the Salem news, which first reported this story, the agreement calls for Fresh Fields to pay 3 percent of its revenue to the city as a local tax.
