Huge Cocaine Bust In Beverly

Nearly 100 grams of cocaine and more than $20,000 in cash, along with a double-edged machete, were among the items recovered.

BEVERLY — Police recovered nearly 100 grams of cocaine and more than $20,000 in a drug bust last week, the culmination of several recent arrests that led police to an alleged Beverly drug dealer.

Jason A. Patten, 35, of Cabot Street was arrested on charges of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Class B Oxycodone, and crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute Class E Alprazolam, and violation of the city knife ordinance.

Patten was among several arrests made by four police departments and narcotics divisions.

Detectives from Beverly, Danvers, Middleton, and Ipswich initially arrested Patten after observing a suspected drug transaction. A warranted search led to the recovery of Oxycodone pills, 92 grams of cocaine, knives, and $21,000.00.

The weapons included a double-edged machete.

The cooperative work our law enforcement officers are engaged in is a critical piece of locally fighting this tragic and horrible opioid epidemic, which is affecting every corner of our region, our country, and our world."
