Beverly Psychic Sees Signs Of Hope In the City

Summer Evans said that while clients have had trouble balancing their energy during the coronavirus crisis, she senses better times ahead.

Summer Evans, owner of Beverly Psychic, said clients have reached out to her for a sense of hope in the spiritual world because things don't make sense in the logical world amid the pandemic.

BEVERLY, MA — Summer Evans has long been used to people coming to her for predictions on new and exciting things they can expect in the future.

For the past seven months during the coronavirus health crisis, the Beverly-based psychic said most people just want to know that everything will be OK.

"I do feel that everyone is looking for a sense of hope," Evans said. "Everyone's routine got so off balance and that turned their life upside down because no one really expected this. They want to be getting to the point where they are feeling secure knowing they are going to get through it."

As a psychic, Evans said her role is not necessarily simply to fill people with happy thoughts, but she feels she does have ways to help people tap into their own inner energy and bring their spirits up as they look into an uncertain future.

"The way my readings work I'm sort of a life coach," said Evans, who moved her practice from Connecticut to the Beverly Psychic location on Rantoul Street on Beverly last year. "I am able to see what see what's going on in the spiritual world and that helps them in this world. People do need to balance their energy out and keep it higher after it was down in the pandemic."

The Connecticut native's world was shaken just like everyone else's in March when she was forced to close her storefront to the public. She was able to connect with many of her clients through virtual means such as livestreams, podcasts and phone sessions.

"So many people from Beverly, and abroad too, were reaching out looking for a sense of hope in the spiritual sense because things weren't making sense in the logical sense," she said. "When I first opened it was a lot of people looking to see the future of a relationship, or predictions to help them in a certain business, but once the pandemic happened it was just looking for that sense of hope."

Evans said she tries her best to look for that silver lining with each of her clients even if some of the signs are initially more pessimistic.

"I tell people what that person needs to hear and not always what they want to hear," she said. "But I try not to keep it all negative. I try to keep a light at the end of that for them. Something new coming up that's not bad.

"One door closes and another one opens."

Evans said that's the same when she talks with fellow Beverly downtown business owners trying to navigate through ongoing restrictions with one eye on rising coronavirus test rates in the area.

"A lot people are worried about that," she allowed. "A lot of people are worried about how things are going to go. I try to keep them hopeful in this time. A lot of them were able to stay in business, but some of them weren't so fortunate."

In the short term, Evans cautions against making rash decision over the next few weeks due to the new moon on Halloween night and because mercury is in retrograde.

According to the Old Farmer's Almanac when Mercury is in retrograde: "These times in particular were traditionally associated with confusion, delay and frustration. Think undelivered love letters, email blunders and frazzled travel plans.

"However, this is an excellent time to reflect on the past. It's said that intuition is high during these periods, and coincidences can be extraordinary."

Evans, who said she "felt a really strong calling" from the Beverly community when she chose to relocate last year, has what she said is a genuine message of positivity for neighbors as she looks toward the long-term future of the city.

"I do feel that Beverly is going to have a very big shift when it comes to next spring," she said. "I do know that winter energy was low in Beverly when the pandemic first started. But it feels like everyone will be able to get through it, and be stronger too."
