Ex-Beverly School Cook Wants Sex Abuse Settlement Sealed
Donald Drew reached a settlement with a former student at the Landmark School in August, but now he wants details of the agreement sealed.

BEVERLY, MA — A former student at the Landmark School in Beverly has asked a federal court judge to enforce a settlement agreement he reached with a former school cook following mediation in August. The man, who is identified as Marcus Doe in court documents, says Donald Drew, of Cumberland, ME, wants the entire settlement agreement sealed. In the agreement they reached in August, Doe says, they only agreed to seal the amount of damages.
Doe filed his lawsuit against the Drew, the school and other employees in 2018. Doe claims Drew sexually abused him when he was a 15-year-old student at the school in 1972. The school and the other defendants named in the lawsuit have already reached settlements with Doe, leaving the lawsuit against Drew the only outstanding complaint.
In 2013, several former students came forward and claimed they were abused by staff at the school in the 1990s. Landmark School was founded in 1971 as a co-educational school for students in grades two through 12 with language-based learning disabilities.
