How to Have Fun at Saturday Night's Block Party

"The Block" block party is on Saturday night from 5:30-9:30 p.m. in downtown Beverly.

The first Block Party of 2014 comes to Cabot Street in downtown Beverly on Saturday night

Beverly Main Streets is organizing the event and offers up some quick tips to have fun. Here are those tips:

  • Bring cash. No credit cards will be accepted. All vendors will take cash only.
  • Consider making the $5 donation to help offset the event costs. The first 500 people to donate will get "The Block" sunglasses. No admission free is required.
  • Cabot Street between Pond and Federal streets will be closed. The area will be fenced in and you will have to enter and exit through designated areas.
  • Bring your ID if you want to drink beer or wine. Vendors will require a Massachusetts IDs for anyone under 40.
  • You will be able to drink anywhere within the event area.
  • The event runs from 5:30-9:30 p.m. Last call is at 9 p.m.
  • Leave pets, bicycles and skateboards at home. Only humans on foot, in a stroller or in a wheelchair will be allowed in to the event. Bicycle racks are available on Beverly Common.
  • Come hungry and eat at any one of the seven vendors
  • Three bands will be playing
  • There will be limited kids activities
  • If you are posting to social media, use the hashtag #beverlyblock
  • Be nice to the volunteers and if you're at "The Block" at 9:30 p.m., help put a few chairs away.
  • Drink responsibly and observe the rule that no cups can leave the block area.
  • The weather forecast calls for mostly clear skies and temperatures in the 70s.
  • Major sponsors are Beverly Rotary Club, Netcast Church, Eastern Bank and Bonaloop.
