North Reading Police Look For Man Who Conned Beverly Babysitter

The Beverly woman met a man calling himself David outside a North Reading home.

NORTH READING, MA — The Salem News is reporting that the North Reading police are looking for help in identifying a man who called himself David and conned a 19-year-old babysitter from Beverly out of $500. The Beverly woman babysat for the man who paid her with checks, telling her to deposit them into her bank account through her phone. He then called later and said he had overpaid her, and she should reimburse him by purchasing iTunes gift cards.

The checks later bounced, according to the newspaper. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male who spoke with a pronounced accent. He may have two German Shepherds and a late model “boxy” Honda Pilot type sport utility vehicle with luggage piled up in the back seat. The nine-year-old girl the man said was his daughter was between 4' to 4'6" girl with a heavy build. and no accent.
