Emerson Professor Dies After Being Hit By Train At Beverly Depot
The victim was Moses Shumow, an associate journalism professor at Emerson College in Boston.

BEVERLY, MA — The bicyclist struck by a MBTA commuter rail train at Beverly Depot Tuesday morning died as a result of his injuries. The Berkeley Beacon, the student-newspaper at Emerson College in Boston, identified the victim as Moses Shumow, an associate journalism professor at the school.
Shumow, 42, of Beverly, was hit while in a pedestrian cut-through around 8:20 a.m. He was taken to the hospital with what were described as serious injuries. The initial investigation at Beverly Depot caused delays on the MBTA's Newburyport/Rockport line, and some trains were canceled.

Shumow was married and had three children. He had been teaching at Emerson since 2010 after teaching at the University of Miami for nine years.
