Brother Of Boston Marathon Bombing Victim Martin Richard Finishes Race

Nine years after Martin Richard, 8 died in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing, his older brother Henry Richard, 20, ran in his honor.

BOSTON — Henry Richard lost his younger brother Martin Richard, 8 in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

And nine years later, Henry Richard, 20, crossed the finish line Monday of the 2022 Boston Marathon in honor of his brother and his sister Jane, who lost her left leg in the attack.

Henry Richard was part of the Martin Richard Foundation's marathon team. He wrote the name of his siblings on his arms and shoulders with a marker before the race.

Boston Marathon 2022 Winners

Peres Jepchirchir, 28, of Kenya, has won the Women's Division of the 2022 Boston Marathon.

Jepchirchir, who won the New York Marathon in 2021, finished with a time of 2:21:01, in the Patriots Day race.

Evans Chebet, 33 of, Kenya, won the Men's Division, finishing with a time of 2:06:51. All races in the 126th Boston Marathon are now complete

A Maryland man won the Men's Wheelchair Division of the Boston Marathon. Daniel Romanchuk, finished with a time of 1:26:57. This was Romanchuck's second win. When he won the 2019 Boston Marathon, he became the first American to win the division since 1993.

The Women's Wheelchair Division also saw a repeat winner. Manuela Schar, 37, of Switzerland, won her third straight and fourth total Boston Marathon. She finished with a time of 1:41:08.

For the first time in three years, the Boston Marathon was back on its traditional Patriot Day date.

Tens of thousands of athletes from around the world are taking part in the race, beginning in Hopkinton and running 26.2 miles to the finish line on Boylston Street in Boston.

This year's field of runners has representatives from all 50 states and more than 120 countries.

Because of a deal with the BAA, WBZ has exclusive local live coverage from 7 a.m. - 5 p.m. ET on WBZ-TV (channel 4 in Boston). Then you can find a complete rerun starting at 8 p.m. on myTV38.

You can also catch live national coverage on NBC Sports or USA Network. Live race coverage will be broadcast on USA Network and the NBC Sports App from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
