British Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team To Fly Over Boston
The Red Arrows, comprised of nine Hawk jets, will perform in Boston for the first time.

BOSTON— If you've been impressed by the momentary rumbling of a military flyover — the kind you hear before you see — then brace yourself. Nine jets will grace the Boston the skies Monday morning as part of a 10-minute Royal Air Force Acrobatic Team show. So don't forget to look up.
The Red Arrows will perform along the Boston waterfront around 11:20 a.m. You should be able to see the show from the both the waterfront and the East Boston waterfront. Folks near the USS Constitution, Fan Pier, or near the New England Aquarium Aquarium or Castle Island may have the best view, according to the British Consulate-General in Boston.
It's part of the Red Arrows' tour of North America. Monday will be their first aerial performance over Boston. The Red Arrows will also take part in events promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in the area.

On Aug. 5, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team embarked on their biggest tour of North America, including Canada and the U.S. The plan is to visit more than 25 North American cities during an 11-week deployment.
"I am delighted the Red Arrows are coming to New England as part of their North American tour," said Harriet Cross, Her Majesty’s consul general to New England, in a press release. "Their aerial display over the skies of Boston will be a unique and quite breath-taking spectacle."

The consulate is hosting a social media contest with prizes awarded for best photo of the flyover shared with the hashtag #RedArrowsTour.
The Red Arrows fly BAE Systems Hawk jets and are cultural ambassadors for the U.K., flying and displaying their tricks across the world since 1965, according to the group's website.
