MA Schools, Districts Report 252 New Coronavirus Cases
Over 100 school districts reported at least one coronavirus case from Oct. 22 to Oct. 28.
MASSACHUSETTS — New coronavirus cases were reported at 118 Massachusetts school districts among staff and students from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4, down from 122 districts the week before, according to new district-by-district coronavirus data released by the state Thursday. Six approved special education schools and one educational collaborative also reported cases.
The state reported 252 total new cases, down from the 286 cases reported last week. There were 154 student cases and 98 staff cases.
Only in-person and hybrid students and staff with building access are counted toward district numbers. The state estimated that there are 525,000 people in those two categories.

Nine school districts reported five or more cases: Beverly, Billerica, Fall River, Haverhill, Methuen, Newton, Quincy, Waltham and Winchester. Haverhill had the most cases, with 10. Nine of Haverhill's cases were staff members.

Sixty-one districts reported just one case and 282 reported none at all. Twenty-four educational collaboratives and 96 special education schools reported zero cases.
