Massachusetts Could See First Frost Tonight, Then 85 Degrees

Summer technically isn't over yet, in spirit or actuality. The season lasts through Sunday, and 80-degree weekend temperatures will back it up.

But late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning could still feature the first frost in parts of Massachusetts. A frost warning is in effect for western Massachusetts, where temperatures will dip below 37 degrees.

It'll be some 5-10 degrees warmer in central and eastern parts of the state. Worcester will dip to 42 and Boston 45. The warmest — or should we say, least cold — overnight temperature is forecast to be 48 degrees on Cape Cod and the Islands.

On Thursday, temperatures will climb into the mid-60s. Summer will go out with a bang this weekend — Friday and Saturday soar to 80 and it could get as hot as 86 Sunday.

Fall begins Monday with temperatures still in the mid-80s.

Thursday - Patchy fog between 7am and 8am. Otherwise, sunny, with a high near 68. North wind around 5 mph becoming light and variable in the afternoon.

Thursday Night - Clear, with a low around 47. Light and variable wind.

Friday - Sunny, with a high near 79. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Friday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 60. West wind around 6 mph.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 81. North wind 3 to 5 mph.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 60. Southwest wind 3 to 5 mph.

Sunday - Sunny, with a high near 83. Southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

Sunday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 62. Southwest wind around 8 mph.

Monday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
