Now Arriving: Second Set Of New Orange Line Train Cars
Thursday the MBTA just put another new Orange Line train on the tracks.

BOSTON — Since the first shiny - clean - six Orange Line MBTA cars hit the tracks last month, commuters accustomed a different kind of train car, have been delighted to score a ride on them. The chances of scoring such a ride just doubled. Thursday, a second new Orange Line train hit the tracks, according to the MBTA.
The MBTA ordered 252 new Red Line cars and 152 new Orange Line cars as it attempts to reduce breakdowns and delays. The Orange Line cars were supposed to be the first to be introduced to passenger service in January, although Green Line made it to the track first earlier this year instead. MBTA officials expect to have a completely new Orange Line fleet by the end of 2022.
The Red Line fleet replacement is expected to be completed by 2023. The two projects will add a total of around 85,000 seats to the transit network.
