Somerville Superintendent A Finalist To Lead Boston Public Schools
The district announced Monday that Mary Skipper is one of two finalists for superintendent of Boston Public Schools.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Superintendent of Somerville Public Schools Mary Skipper is one of two finalists for superintendent of Boston Public Schools, reported NBC 10.
The Boston School Committee announced Monday that Skipper and Tommy Welch, the Region 1 superintendent for BPS, have been chosen as potential replacements for current Superintendent Brenda Cassellius, who is leaving her position on June 30.
"I'm excited to be at this final stage in our search process and so grateful to the Search Committee for leading a robust process that yielded a strong, diverse pool of candidates with a wide range of lived and professional experiences," Mayor Michelle Wu told NBC 10.

Skipper and Welch will be interviewed in public on Thursday and Friday, respectively, the district said.
Until a new superintendent is appointed, Deputy Superintendent of Academics Drew Echelson will serve as acting superintendent.
