Woman Attacked On Neponset Bike Path, State Police Investigating
State Police are looking for the man who attacked a woman on a bike path in Mattapan Tuesday afternoon.

BOSTON — State Police say the attack on a 46-year-old woman on the Neponset Bike Path near the Ryan Playground in Mattapan Tuesday was random.
Police said after she was attacked around 2 p.m. near 350 River Street, the woman suffered a contusion and laceration and was taken to Beth Israel Hospital.
Troopers said in an effort to "protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation" they are not releasing any other details about the assault or investigation.

State police said the attack happened despite what it described as a strong patrol presence on the bike path and other state areas nearby. Police said it plans to keep its presence up on the path.
Police describe the man who attacked her as black, believed to be in his 20’s, approximately 5′ 10″ tall, with black hair worn in an afro style about 3″ high, wearing a navy blue long sleeve shirt and navy blue sweat pants. After the attack he ran off toward River Street through the Ryan playground parking lot, police said.
