Brockton High School Student Killed In Single Car Crash

The district attorney's office identified the victim of the East St. crash as 19-year-old Tony Sostre.

BROCKTON, MA — Police say an 11th-grade student from Brockton High School was killed in a crash Sunday night.

Monday afternoon, Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz identified the driver as 19-year-old Tony Sostre.

First responders arrived at the scene near 422 East St. around 9:28 p.m. Sunday to find a car had struck a utility pole and tree.

Police say the driver was trapped inside the car against a tree, with a snapped utility pole close by.

The Jaws of Life tool was used for over twenty minutes by firefighters who tried to remove the unconscious teenager from the car.

Police say the teen was eventually removed, taken to a nearby hospital, and later died.
