City covers $1.6M deficit run up by Brockton Redevelopment Authority (enterprisenews.com) — Brockton officials have voted to use about $1.6 million in “free cash” to erase a long-running deficit tied to the now-defunct Brockton Redevelopment Authority, effectively putting taxpayers on the hook but giving the city a clean slate. 3. Owner of starved Taunton 'puggle' faces judge: What happened? (enterprisenews.com) — A Brockton District Court judge released a Taunton man without bail after he pleaded not guilty to felony animal cruelty in a closely watched case involving Sprout, a severely underweight dog now recovering at a Brockton shelter. Manhunt underway for suspect accused of killing two people outside Chipotle restaurant (ktvu.com) — Authorities are asking Brockton residents for help finding 23-year-old Davinci Leonard, wanted on murder and firearms charges in a March 22 shooting that killed two young people outside the city’s Chipotle restaurant. U.S. Marshals say Leonard may have changed his appearance, should be considered armed and dangerous, and is the subject of a nationwide extradition warrant.

5. BYU freshman AJ Dybantsa takes on Gov. Healey in a game of H.O.R.S.E (wcvb.com) — Brockton native and top NBA prospect AJ Dybantsa came back home to Massachusetts and faced Gov. Maura Healey in a friendly H.O.R.S.E. game at his old St. Sebastian’s gym. Dybantsa, now a standout BYU freshman, talked about Brockton always being home while showing off his skills and gifting the governor his jerseys.
