Firefighter Falls Through Staircase Of Brockton Home
Fire Chief Brian Nardelli says the firefighter suffered minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

BROCKTON, MA — A firefighter was injured, but is expected to be okay after he fell through a flight of stairs while battling a fire inside a Brockton home Tuesday night.
Brockton fire crews responded to 69 Tilton Ave. late Tuesday night after receiving reports that a fire had erupted in the hallway, fire Chief Brian Nardelli said.
Once the firefighters were inside, one was heading to the second floor when the staircase gave way beneath him, Nardelli said.

"One of our members did fall through the set of stairs down into the basement from almost the second floor," Nardelli added.
The firefighter was able to escape from the basement with minor injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton to be evaluated, WBZ reported Nardelli saying.

The Brockton Fire Department tweeted a photo of the set of stairs the firefighter fell through, saying this is what was left.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no one else was injured, Nardelli said, adding that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
