Plymouth County District Attorney's Office: Scituate Man Arraigned On Child Rape Charge

Judge Kirpalani adopted the Commonwealth's request for conditions.

BROCKTON – A Scituate man has pleaded not guilty to a child rape charge, Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz has announced.

Today, Thomas Bleakney, 51, pleaded not guilty to one count of Rape of a Child, Use of Force in Brockton Superior Court. Bleakney was released on his own personal recognizance with the conditions that he stay away and have no contact with the alleged victim, and have no one-on-one unsupervised contact with any children under the age of 16 except blood relatives. Judge Kirpalani adopted the Commonwealth’s request for conditions.

On August 6, 2020, an adult female contacted Scituate Police to report a past sexual assault and an investigation commenced. On August 13, 2021, a Plymouth County grand jury returned the indictment against Bleakney. The indictment alleges that on or about 2004-2006, Bleakney digitally raped the alleged victim, who was a child at the time.

Bleakney is next scheduled to appear in court on October 13.
