Brockton launches $1M hunger relief fund to boost winter food aid (enterprisenews.com) — Brockton residents facing food insecurity this winter will see expanded support thanks to a new $1 million Brockton Hunger Relief Fund, seeded by the Eastern Bank Foundation. Working through The Greater Boston Food Bank’s Brockton network, more than 15 local nonprofits, including Catholic Charities Brockton, will receive increased food deliveries. Residents can find local pantry hours and assistance details on the GBFB website.

2. Massive water main break in East Bridgewater impacting regional water supply, officials say (wcvb.com) — Brockton’s regional water system is under strain after a massive water main break in East Bridgewater disrupted the supply feeding nearby towns. Whitman officials warn residents may see low water pressure until Brockton crews stabilize the system and are urging everyone to conserve water while repairs continue.
   

3. Man guns down 2 people outside Chipotle restaurant, then flees: Authorities (lawandcrime.com) — A March double shooting outside the Chipotle on Westgate Drive in Brockton left two teenagers dead, and the suspect is still on the run months later. Authorities have indicted 23-year-old Davinci Leonard on murder and firearms charges and are offering a reward for tips, while two others face charges for allegedly helping him evade capture.
   

4. Brockton Public Schools mentor arrested on child pornography charges (enterprisenews.com) — Brockton families are being notified after a Brockton Public Schools mentor pleaded not guilty to child pornography and related charges following an investigation that began with a school tip. Police say the alleged conduct happened off school grounds, and the staffer has been placed on leave while both an independent school probe and a police investigation continue. The court has barred him from entering Brockton.
   

5. 10 Local Caregivers Honored - Plympton-Halifax-Kingston Express (plymptonhalifaxexpress.com) — A Brockton resident, Nydia Alvarez, is among ten local caregivers honored for their dedication at a regional luncheon hosted by Old Colony Elder Services. The awards spotlight caregivers from Brockton and neighboring towns and highlight support programs, workshops, and groups available to help families manage the challenges of long-term caregiving.
