Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez To Endorse Brookline's Raul Fernandez
Raul Fernandez, who is running for Brookline Select Board, had Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley join him for an event recently, too.
BROOKLINE, MA — He was her teacher when she was in school at Boston University. Then, when she was running for election to the US Congress, he helped her by volunteering with her campaign. Now it's her turn to help him. On Saturday, Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who he calls "Sandy," will be in Brookline on Saturday for two events supporting Raul Fernandez, who is running for Brookline Select Board.
"The events underscore Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s larger mission of supporting progressive candidates of color running for office at every level," reads a press release.
The first event, a "Conversation on Grassroots Campaigning" between Ocasio-Cortez and Fernandez begins at 11 a.m. and is $100 per ticket.

The free event, a "Get out the vote" rally starts at 12:30 p.m. at the same place. Ocasio-Cortez and community speakers will be there. Once the rally is over, folks will be invited canvass, phone bank and volunteer in other ways for the Fernandez campaign.
Fernandez, who has lived in Brookline since 2012, is an Associate Dean for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at Boston University. He is also a lecturer in educational leadership and policy studies, as well as public speaker. He's been a Brookline Town Meeting Member since 2017. He was appointed to the Commonwealth’s Racial Imbalance Advisory Council, according to the League of Women Voters bio of him. [ EDITORS NOTE: This paragraph has been corrected. He's running against Richard Nangle and Isaac Silberberg for a three-year term on the Select Board. Both Nangle and Silberberg are also Brookline Town Meeting Members.
